I want fries.
Hi everybody! I don’t know about you, but I love the question, “do you want fries with that?” — I think a lot of people do!
It’s a magical question, isn’t it?
What kind of fries, guys?
Just because you’re health conscious and whatnot, doesn’t mean you have to give up awesome food, like fries. Traditional fries are not so good, though. In moderation, sure, you can get your fry on! However, on the regular, you might want to swap out the old school, deep-fried taters for something healthier!
There’s loads of ideas on Pinterest for fry recipes. I am NOT that
innovative creative at the moment, so I decided to make parsnip and carrot fries. By the way, I TOTALLY got the idea for the carrot fries from, Megan at Skinny Fitalicious and they were awesome!
Some people give me flack for calling them “fries” because they are NOT fried, but what’s a fry anyway? It’s a side, an extra, and when you’re using healthy veggies in the oven — a bonus!
Simple, simple, simple.
You can pretty much make any veggie into a fry, it would seem! For parsnip and carrot fries you need to preheat your even to 450F, cut into 1/2 inch strips, and bake for 15-20 minutes (this may vary with the size of your pieces). I served my carrot and parsnip fries with a creamy dill sauce, but even ketchup would be delightful!
