Weekend Delights

Happy Monday!  Hope everybody had a great weekend!  This is the first Monday in months that I have woke up feeling refreshed and energized.  Seriously, I don’t know why or how, but I’LL TAKE IT!  It was really great this weekend for Luke and I to have free time to just spend together without having to be somewhere or do something, and he had a really hectic week at work so it was well deserved!  Before I mentally prepare for the week ahead of me, let’s reflect on the days behind, shall we?

Part of not doing anything involves a trip to the ever-lively Glasgow City Centre and lunch at the Handmade Burger Co.

Handmade Burger Co. Glasgow

magic inside.

It’s seriously like a burger-off on the corner of St. Vincent, by the way, just across from Handmade is Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Five Guys Burgers and Fries.  Obviously, I will have to eat at the other two, you know, to formulate my best opinion, of course.  I can say this, I visited Wahlburgers the day before I moved to Glasgow, and Handmade Burger Co’s burgers completely blow Wahlburgers out of the water! As a sides “aside”, the Wahlburgers sweet potato tots are amazing and it’s totally worth a visit if you want to drive 45 minutes outside of Boston!

true love.

Back to Handmade Burger Co. — all of their burgers are 100% grass fed, Scotch beef and they assure upon seating that all of their ingredients are made fresh!

how can you argue with such logic?

I, of course, wanted to partake in a Rekorderlig cider (ZOMG, delish), so I opted for a “small burger” which was pretty much a regular-sized burger, to be honest, but SO delicious.

handmade1 CollageLuke had the New York Deli burger which was ridiculously good (of course I stole me some!) and a peanut butter shake (because he’s adorable).

wowsa!

We shared the rosemary chips, and couldn’t finish them between the two of us.  #SoMuchFood!

We also took a peek in the American Candy & Soda shop, mostly so I could gasp at the RIDICULOUS prices they have on American junk food.  They did not disappoint, seriously, $8.00 USD for a box of Lucky Charms and look at this below, £2.00 ($2.97 USD) for a package of Skittles Darkside!  Ouch!  If these things were as expensive in America we’d definitely have less of a sugar addiction issue! American Candy & SodaAlso, Levi’s cost an arm and a leg here; £85.00 for a pair of 527’s!!!!!  Who’s going to mail me some?  Seriously!  It’s expensive to live like an American abroad, ya’ll!

Also noteworthy Actually, a completely useless fact, I finally finished watching all of the series Fargo on Netflix.

Holy s**t Fargo is a great show!  If you haven’t watched it yet, you’re seriously missing out!  Luke and I are looking forward to the next Better Call Saul on Tuesday!

So, now for more productive (or healthy, I should say) things, like my first long distance run in a while!

Have a great day!!!

What did you do this weekend?  What are you currently watching?  Do you want to send me candy?  I’ll trade you!

WHAT ARE DARKSIDE SKITTLES?? They look magical. All that food looks so good even though it’s like 9 am here and I don’t need to be eating a burger and fries…or do I?

Christie Brinkley eats dinner for breakfast and look at her! 😉 Darkside Skittles are seriously amazing. The blood orange Skittle is pretty much the best yet! One of the editors at my last job introduced me to them being in the vending machine, and I became crazed for them (well, kinda). So, I’ve been on a 8 month hiatus from them! It’s probably a good thing that they were $3.00 a pack or else I’d be in a serious sugar coma today!

I must admit my favourite burger place is Gourmet Burger Kitchen! They don’t partially fry their burgers before grilling like the others do which is awesome! They also don’t use filler in their burgers. You should definitely try them next… They do amazing sweet potato fries!
I have never owned a pair of Levi’s, I bet now you can see why! So expensive!
Glad to see you had a fab weekend!

Thanks, Jen! I am definitely going to try the Gourmet Burger Kitchen next! I was checking out their menu with my full belly on the way back to the carpark lol! I cannot get over the price of Levi’s here! Luke got two pairs for $60 USD when he was over visiting me in November. That’s the price of import/export for ya! Hope you had a lovely weekend too! 🙂

Loved this post Erin! Loved reading about what someone who has come to live and settle in the great City of Glasgow thinks of the eating establishments and foods etc.

I haven’t tried ANY of those burger places you mention. Yet! But they are planned for sometime in the future. Just got to get some money back into the bank account, as you know. 🙂

    Have a great week!! 😀

Geebuz if you think those prices are bad, look at our USA food store. Canned pumpkin is $15. And mini tootsie rolls are $1 lol!

Looks like you had a great weekend regardless- Those burgers look amazing!
